Ten companies join hands to build a full-cycle hydrogen energy industry chain, aiming for full operation by 2030.
The “Hydrogen Symposium 2026” was held in HK for three days starting May 18th, bringing together over 120 speakers from 16 countries and regions, attracting over 1,000 global hydrogen energy experts and industry representatives. Yesterday, the forum featured a highlight: the EMSD signed a Memoranda of Understanding with the MOLIT of South Korea and the KGS respectively, to promote the development of the hydrogen energy ecosystem in both regions and strengthen technical cooperation in the field of gas safety. Simultaneously, 10 companies from South Korea, Mainland China, France, and Hong Kong, including Hyundai Motor Group, jointly signed a landmark cooperation memorandum of understanding on building a hydrogen energy ecosystem. This long-term cooperation plan aims to build a full-cycle hydrogen energy industry chain covering production, storage, transportation, refueling, and application, with the goal of being fully operational by the end of 2030, injecting new momentum into Hong Kong’s green economy.
The multilateral agreements were witnessed by Jeong Eui-kyung, Director of the Land and Urban Affairs Division of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of South Korea; Wong Suk-han, Acting Secretary for the Environment and Ecology of the Hong Kong SAR Government; Poon Kwok-ying, Director of the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department; and Lau Kai-shuen, Director of Invest Hong Kong. Other companies that signed the MOU include Hyundai Motor Company, Hyundai Engineering & Construction, China Inspection Company Limited, Chun Wo Bus Services Limited, Chun Wo Construction Engineering Limited, Jiangsu Guofu Hydrogen Energy Technology Equipment Co., Ltd., JEA ENG, Templewater Limited, Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited, and Veolia Hong Kong Holdings Limited.
